Golden Bay Theatre Company DramaLAB present a hilarious, dynamic and unique musical event, full of rhythm, song, movement and dance, where no one escapes a look into the mirror of life.
‘The environmentally focused festival Rescue : Remedy is calling a diverse group of healers together to create a solution for the Earth and its people to heal the destruction humanity has caused. In their quest to find the solution they encounter their own and each other’s personalities, ego’s and past and futures. While they descend into the depth of the Earth to get to the core of the issue, a painful reality hits them’.
DramaLAB presents its inaugural musical experience, a culmination of 12-months of devised work. A group of dedicated physical-theatre actors, directed and produced by Martine Baanvinger (actor/director of the sell-out solo show Red Heavens) are joined by local musicians to produce a magical show. It is a full evening experience for the audiences. A real treat! As the musical is set in a festival setting that continuously runs before, during and after the show.

Martine Baanvinger brings another powerful and passionate solo show to the stage. ‘Red Heavens’ portays the true story of Angelina Moleta , a pioneering immigrant whose fate is intertwined with the forces of nature and her deep connection with Wetekia Ruruku Elkington, a high born Māori woman. This dynamic play is inspired by the book ‘Angelina’ by New Zealand author Gerard Hindmarsh.
